L-glutamine is the most prevalent amino acid in the bloodstream. The gastrointestinal tract is by far the greatest user of glutamine in the body. Intestinal cells use glutamine as a main source of fuel. Glutamine supplementation decreases gut permeability and is important for anyone with food allergies, Crohns disease, ulcerative colitis, GERD, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Glutamine is also beneficial for wound healing and should be taken before and after any surgeries. L-glutamine is used in high dose 8-10 grams per day for the treatment of many cancers. It has been shown to greatly reduce the negative side-effects from chemotherapy. The powdered form allows for higher dosing at an over-all lower cost.
